Well, I have purchased a new camera for my part of the project. I’m so excited. It’s a digital SLR … a Sony. I still have so much to learn about the camera and it’s a little heavier than I would really like, but it has so much flexibility. I have this strong inner sense that my heart will be crying out “yes!” “yes!” in the spirit of Henri Cartier Bresson who captured so many images that speak directly to the soul of the viewer. I ask the Lord it bless my shots in the same way.

I spent about an hour and a half at Ritz Camera working with Don who helped me pick out the cameras … Canon A460’s for the kids. It’s just under budget, but I’m hoping that a follow-up letter to David Ritz will produce some help to bring down the overall cost. Please pray that my letter will find favor.

I also had to get a small laptop in order to have something to store all the photos that the children will take and to get those images back to the States. My colleague, Tom, found me a pretty good deal… only $450 for lightweight refurbished Acer. Now, I just have to figure out how I’m going to get all these things onto the airplane(s) as “carry-on” as we were told not to put anything much of value in our suitcases and to split up our clothes between the suitcases so no one loses “everything.” Just in case.

Also, we’re having some connection problems from Elephant Valley to Livingstone to Lusaka on Saturday the 10th. Please lift up this “transfer” issue … we need a simple but elegant solution. 🙂
